Small businesses in the industry of construction are seeing a lot of down fall. This is mainly due to the housing market. Most small construction businesses have residential customers as opposed to larger construction companies still able to grab a few commercial clients.

Contractors everywhere are hoping spring brings more than just warmer weather and rain showers. Every year we typically do see a rise in the market around spring. Contractors every where are hoping this spring won’t be any different. But we still have to wonder whether or not we will see more new construction when spring comes.

The market is currently loaded with houses for sale. Most of these homes aren’t moving very quick and already have reduced prices stacked on reduced prices. It would be extremely difficult to build a house and sell it at a competitive price with a market this competitive. With this in mind, perhaps contractors should focus a marketing campaign towards home owners and investors flipping homes.

In the service industry prices have dropped considerably. Materials remain close to the same price they always have in most industries. For now it appears that many contractors will have to do a little more for maybe even a little less.
